Surf Tips for Beginners

Are you planning to visit the Gold Coast in Australia? Learn about the Gold Coast learn to surf programs that will make you a pro at surfing. Gold Coast surf lessons will teach you that the basic point in surfing is that you should let the surfboard float in the water. The surfboard has a natural center of gravity and if you let the board floating on the water, Gold Coast surfing lessons will teach you that the board will come to a halt. You should let the surfboard stay in the same relation to the water, as it had been without your body weight on it.

While paddling the surfboard, Gold Coast surfing coaches require you not to paddle with both the hands, as it results in making the board speed up as well as slow down to interfere with the hull speed in the water. Experts who give Gold Coast surf lessons advise learners to sit on their surfboards. This is an important part of the Gold Coast surfing lessons as you need to master the process calmly and with a lot of patience. Learners should make less body movements and it will let them master the art of sitting.

Gold Coast learn to surf methods involve standing on your surfboard as well. Lie down on your chest with your head up looking ahead. With both hands on the board, push your upper body upwards by sweeping the feet under. Put your feet on the stringer so that the weight of your body is centered along the stringer.

Best Gold Coast Beaches To Learn To Surf

Getting a surfing lesson is super important when you want to learn to surf. From there though, you need to practise. To practise most effectively, you need to find an appropriate wave to practise on. Some tips for finding an appropriate wave include:

  • It must be smallish. Try to get something between knee high and ankle high. Anything smaller and the wave will not pick you up. Anything bigger will be too much for you
  • It should be breaking slowly – try and find a wave that is slowly crumbling across, not something that it dumping, tubing or moving super fast. If you are in the white water and the white water is traveling a long way, this is a great alternative.
  • Try to avoid crowds – find a beach or wave where there are not millions of people. You will find it much more difficult with millions of people around

On the Gold Coast, some great beaches which fit the bill include:

  • Rainbow Bay up past Coolangatta
  • Currumbin Alley, on the inside in the creek mouth
  • The beaches from Nobbies to Main Beach (the waves are faster here but have much less crowds – just look for and pick an appropriate wave)

Now get off the internet and get out in the water
